3. “The Runaway Setting”

This book describes many different settings and locations. The major part of the book took place at courtroom in Biloxi, Mississippi. This book takes place in modern society  in the late 1990’s.  This book is very realistic, its a fictional story, but it could happen to anyone.  This story takes place as a civil lawsuit with realistic lawsuits.  A major topic in reality is the tobacco industry and there influence on lung cancer. These people are all made up characters, but Grisham being a lawyer himself, may be relating to one of  his own experiences as a lawyer.  The plot has some holes in it, i don’t think all the corruption inj the jury would just be ignored, but it was creating a very suspenseful story.

10. “The Good Book”

“The Runaway Jury” written by the great author John Grisham  is beautifully paced and plotted and full of delightful twists. Grisham’s mastery of form has never been more evident. Its a marvelous read.  There is not a dull moment in the book. This book is the true reason why publishers call Grisham the world’s most popular author and he truly illustrates his wonderful talent in writing.  This is a a book I regret having to finish its so superb. Grisham uses Nicholas Easter to illustrate a leader among the jurors. Nicholas, a young man after a grand prize, is chasing down tobacco companies during there law suits. Throughout the story Nicholas and his correspondent, Gabriel, demonstrate how powerful the members of jury can truly be.  Fitch, a devious and ignorant man, is defending himself and his tobacco industry in a multi-million dollar law suit. Many times Fitch has defended himself and won these cases, but every time thinks he has his hands wrapped around Easter and his fellow jurors,  Easter outsmarts him and the verdict will be out of Fitch’s control. I would highly recommend this book, Grisham show his true instinct of story telling in this novel.
